Born and residing in Jonquiere, Quebec, Lucie Lapointe, has seen her artistic career progress rapidly and remarkably. She developed her special personalized pictorial technique giving softness and light to her colorful style.
A self-taught artist, Lucie uses oil to express beauty and joy which nourish her inspiration. In each of her paintings, a scene is reborn, often times filled with children or teenagers. These chubby-cheek youngsters always seem in motion. An atmosphere of serenity, candour and security emanates from her paintings. One is often surprised to recognize affectionate memories of times gone by.
Lucie's passion for drawing started in her early childhood as she drew portraits of people around her.By the age of seven, after visiting the studio of an artist, she fell in love with the art of painting. Her first solo exhibition dates back to 1990.From then on, she participated in many solo and group exhibitions, receiving many honors: In 1991, she was recipient of the first prize from "La foire des Artists Alcan" and " Le Concours regional des Arts visuels" in 1995.In 1998, she was appointed honorary president of Anse-St-Jean and Petit-saguenary's Symposim.
We find Lucie's works in many private or corporate collections.Mrs. Brian Mulroney, former Prime Minister of Canada, Claude Beland, President of Les Caisses Populaires Desjardins and John Ciaccia, former Minister of International Affairs, each own one of her paintings offered to them upon a visit in the region.
Pacific Gallery is very pleased to display Lucie's artwork.
