Born in 1939 in Brownsburg, in Argenteuil country, this artist comes from a generations, starting with her grandfather from Brittany and including herself and her brothers, Paul Le Corre and Jean-Claude Le Corre, all of Quebec. Her father, Henri-Paul, born in Brittany and an artist by profession, taught her drawing and painting outdoors.
Louise Kirouac began her career painting portraits and working as a photographer.A few years ago, she decided to specialized in rural scenes of the Quebec countryside.
It is not the villages of today which interest Louise Kirouac. She wants no gas stations, bungalows and "Golden Arches" in her works.Instead, she portrays our heritage, eliminating all traces of modernity.
She travels widely all over province searching for the scenes she wants. When a certain view catches her eye, she stops, sets up her easel and begins to work. She sketches out the scene on the spot, then does a wash drawing in colour.Back in her studio, she completes the paintings adding a wealth of tiny details from her astonishingly good visual memory.
Whether it is the small village of Chateau-Richer near Quebec, a lovely corner of the Beauce, the Charlevoix or the North Shore, they all come to life in her works.
