Born in Belgium, Mr.Rebry came to Québec in 1954 and became a famous landscape painter.Living in the Mauricie region, Rebry had an uncanny talent for presenting the beauty of his adopted land thus becoming one of Canada's top ratedartists.He died January 5th 2007 of complications related to pneumonia.
Gaston Rebry was born in Belgium in 1933. He received a degree in drawing from l’Academie de Menen in west Flanders, Belgium in 1953. In 1954 he emigrated to Canada and settled in Montreal. Rebry studied with Jean-Gerald Bertrand at l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Montreal for two years.Settling with his family on a piece of land in Saint Boniface, Rebry devotes himself exclusively to painting.
Gaston Rebry is a master at drawing and composition.He spends many hours walking in the countryside making sketches before heading back to the studio to paint.Saint Boniface provides breathtaking scenery and Rebry is always struck by the vast landscape of rocks and vegetation.
